1. Ober Gatlinburg
Ober Gatlinburg is a popular attraction all year-round, but in mid-December the park opens their slopes for everyone to enjoy snow activities. Whether you want to snowboard or ski, the ski area tickets give you access to the slopes for one session of skiing or snowboarding. First-time skiers and snowboarders are welcome too! Ober Gatlinburg’s instructors offer lessons so you learn everything you need to know about downhill skiing or snowboarding before you hit the slopes. For those who don’t want to ski or snowboard but don’t want to miss out on the snow activities, you’ll love snow tubing! One session will get you 90 minutes of exhilarating fun as you race down the hill at top speed. And the best part – there’s a “Magic Carpet” that takes you back to the top of the hill after each ride, so you don’t have to climb back up the hill!
2. Winter Magic Tunes & Tales
During weekends in December, the Parkway comes alive with the best holiday entertainment. Winter Magic Tunes & Tales uses characters and actors from their Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales program to bring the holiday spirit to Gatlinburg. The performance features carolers and a barber shop quartet that strolls the Parkway spreading Christmas cheer. Zeno the Gatlinburg Bear makes an appearance as well to greet your family. You and your family will also have a chance to meet Santa’s elves, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph!
