In the Smoky Mountains, we are very fortunate to be home to the only ski resort in Tennessee. For the past 50 years, Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort has provided thousands of families and guests hours of entertainment.
If you and your family have not experienced the excitement found at the Gatlinburg ski resort, now is the time. Here’s our 4 favorite things to do at Ober Gatlinburg:
1. Ski/Snowboarding Slopes
Ober Gatlinburg is home to a total of nine exciting ski and snowboarding slopes. Perfect for all experience levels, these slopes range anywhere from 300 feet to 4,400 feet in length.
Don’t worry, you won’t be expected to trek back up the mountain after you finish your run. There are a total of four ski lifts that will easily take you and your family back to the top of the slope so you never have to miss a minute of fun.
Ski and snowboarding passes vary by experience. To buy skiing tickets from Ober Gatlinburg, click here .
In case you accidentally forgot your ski equipment at home, Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort also offers rentals for a small fee. At their ski lodge, they will get you suited up and ready to hit the slopes!
2. Snow Tubing
In addition to their thrilling slopes, Ober Gatlinburg also proves an exciting snow tubing track. Great for families traveling with young children, these slopes are a great way for guests to get to play in the snow and create new memories while vacationing in the Smoky Mountains.
Snow tubing runs begin at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Passes are sold on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are only sold at the resort’s onsite ticket office. Please be aware, tickets do sell out quickly, so we suggest that you and your family plan to arrive early.

3. Ice Skating
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort is the only place in the Smoky Mountains where families and guests can find a real-life ice skating rink. With Christmas just around the corner, we couldn’t think of a better way for you and your family to spend the afternoon than skating around the rink.
If you have never set foot on the ice before, don’t worry. Ice skating is very similar to roller blading, and if you need some time to adjust, you can always hold on to the side until you gain your balance.
4. The Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway
This is the only Aerial Tramway in the area and it’s the best place to see the beauty of the Smoky Mountains from high above them.
If you click here , you can save money on your Aerial Tramway tickets AND receive free cancellation!
