1. Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum
Throughout the Smoky Mountains, you will find dozens of exciting museums that cover all sorts of topics. However, you will not find a more unique attraction than the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum. Inside, you will browse through over 20,000 sets of shakers from around the world that are all different shapes and sizes. The museum also has an incredible story, as the collection has grown from just a handful of shaker sets that the owners had in their house over three decades ago. If you are vacationing on a budget, you will be pleased to know that this museum is also considered to be one of the most affordable attractions in Gatlinburg!
2. Gatlinburg’s Mysterious Mansion
If you are looking for some thrills during your trip to the Smokies, you don’t want to miss a visit to Gatlinburg’s Mysterious Mansion. This is a haunted house attraction that is open year round for those folks who are brave enough to enter. After all, why should haunted houses only be available near Halloween? The Mysterious Mansion is Gatlinburg’s most terrifying attraction, as you never know what is lurking around the next corner. Throughout the adventure, you will come across terrifying characters, creepy music, and plenty of heart pounding jump scares. For an evening of fun with your family, plan a trip to the haunted house…if you dare.
3. Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community
The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community is the largest independent organization of artisans in the United States. As you make the 8-mile loop through the community, you can view artwork from hundreds of local artists from across the Smoky Mountains. Some of the items you can view and purchase include baskets, candles, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, and much more! In addition, there are many artists on hand who are more than happy to talk to you about their work. Be sure to also check out some of the amazing shops and restaurants that are located in the community.
4. Sugarlands Riding Stables
One of the best ways to explore the natural scenery of the Smokies is on horseback. At Sugarlands Riding Stables, you will be in store for a fun horseback riding adventure. The path travels up through the scenic mountains, so it will not be a flat ride. However, you will feel safe and secure on the back of a well trained horse and there will be a guide at the front of the pack to lead the way! The beautiful scenery of the trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is well worth the ride, and you never know when you might see a flock of wild turkeys or a herd of wild deer.
