A German Shepherd fondly known as Cumberland Jack went everywhere with Paul Adams, including to pick up supplies in town and take them back to the lodge! The owners of the restaurant wanted to uphold that hospitality by offering travelers nourishment on their way through Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. When you visit the restaurant, you can get a better insight into the life of Adams and Cumberland Jack by reading actual journal entries that have been printed on the menu, seeing paintings of what Jack looked like, and reading the plaque by the front door.
