The name of the restaurant actually honors the furry companion of the builder and original caretaker of LeConte Lodge. A German Shepherd fondly known as Cumberland Jack went everywhere with Paul Adams, including to pick up supplies in town and take them back to the lodge! The owners of the restaurant wanted to uphold that hospitality by offering travelers nourishment on their way through Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. When you visit the restaurant, you can get a better insight into the life of Adams and Cumberland Jack by reading actual journal entries that have been printed on the menu, seeing paintings of what Jack looked like, and reading the plaque by the front door.

Guests of this Gatlinburg restaurant will enjoy the Appalachian theme as soon as they come up on the building! The log cabin feel paired with the exposed wood beams and lanterns hanging from the ceiling will definitely make everyone feel like they’ve hiked a long way through the Smoky Mountains to reach LeConte Lodge!
