Planning a trip to one of the relaxing Gatlinburg vacation rentals with pools? Don’t forget to pack these essential items to make sure your trip is both fun and memorable!

1. Sunscreen

The most important thing you can remember to pack when staying in Gatlinburg vacation rentals with pools is sunscreen or sunblock. Not only does this prevent any pesky sunburns from ruining your trip, it also helps keep your skin happy and healthy by creating a barrier between it and the rays from the sun. Sunscreen is especially important for younger kids.

We recommend you pick up a fast-drying sunscreen so you don’t have to wait too long before enjoying your time in the pool. We also want to remind you to reapply the sunblock every couple of hours or so.

2. Sunglasses

Just like your skin, you have to protect your eyes from the harsh UV rays from the sun. That is why you should always remember to pack a pair of sunglasses with you. This way, you can protect your eyes and your vision while you enjoy the beautiful sunshine during your vacation to Gatlinburg.

3. Water ShoesView of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains

Water shoes are important, especially for kids, when you plan on spending a lot of time near water and swimming pools during your trip. This is because the concrete around the pool area can easily become slick once you start splashing and jumping into the water, so you want to make sure you and your kids are protected from falling and slipping near the pool area. We prefer water shoes over flip-flops because you don’t have to worry about them slipping off of your feet when you are trying to have fun.

4. Flexible Bag

Now that you have started to accumulate quite a bit of stuff you will need with you as you relax by the pool, it is time to recommend you remember to pack a flexible bag to carry with you to your swimming adventure. The perfect pool bag is made of a water resistant sturdy material, similar to a tote or duffle bag. It is also equipped with smaller pockets in and around the bag for easy access to smaller accessories, like cell phones, books, snacks, and more! Another key component to look for in a reliable pool bag is one that can fold up and stash in your suitcase. This will cut down on the amount of luggage you have to tote around when you are both unloading and loading the car.

5. Poolside Entertainment

Although spending all of your time swimming and splashing in the pool sounds like a load of fun, you will probably want to relax and unwind for a little bit as well. That is why we recommend you and your loved ones remember to pack a couple of poolside entertainment options to keep you occupied during breaks from swimming. These items can include your favorite book, magazine, crossword puzzle, deck of cards, or anything else you can think of. Just remember, anything you pack to enjoy next to the pool has a good chance of getting wet, so make sure you have some sort of protection for any devices that aren’t waterproof.
