3. Plan to eat a couple of meals at the cabin.

Instead of going out to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plan to cook a few meals at the cabin. No matter what you choose to have at the cabin, it’s a great way to save money. Most of the cabins in the area are equipped with full kitchens and everything you’ll need for cooking. Breakfast is usually a pretty quick meal to cook at the cabin, but there’s also quick lunch options like sandwiches or picnic-style meals. If you want to stay in for dinner, check to see if your cabin comes with an outdoor grill. Grilling out is a great way to spend time together and get outside for a little while. Plus, in the summertime, you could plan on roasting marshmallows which is something kids will love to do on vacation!

4. Spend some time in the national park – absolutely free!

You can’t visit Gatlinburg without spending a little time in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, right? Saving money is easy when you spend time in the park because it’s absolutely free. There’s hundreds of hiking trails, dozens of waterfalls to see and plenty of walking trails for an all day adventure or afternoon in the park. Pack your lunch and a few snacks, plan a picnic and spend the whole day in the mountains!
